Bluehost's pricing page leads with $3.99 a month. That number is real, but it only applies to a 36-month Starter term paid upfront, and it is a first-term price. We checked every figure below on bluehost.com on 14 October 2026.
The three shared plans, intro versus renewal
Starter is $3.99/mo on 36 months and renews at $9.99/mo. Business is $6.99/mo and renews at $13.99/mo. eCommerce Essentials is $14.99/mo and renews at $21.99/mo. In the UK the same plans are £2.29, £3.99 and £7.49 a month, renewing at £7.69, £14.59 and £19.99, with VAT added at checkout.
What you pay on day one
On a 36-month Starter plan you pay roughly $144 upfront. Year four, at the $9.99 renewal rate, costs about $120 on its own. That is still a fair price for 10 websites, a free domain for year one, SSL, a CDN and weekly backups, but it is not $3.99 forever.
Students pay the least
Bluehost runs an education store through Student Beans. After you verify student status, the Site Plan is $2.09/mo on a 36-month term and renews at $8.99/mo. That renewal is lower than the public Starter renewal, so it is the cheapest long-term Bluehost option we found.
VPS renewals jump harder
Self-managed VPS plans are on 24-month terms. NVMe 2 starts at $4.69/mo and renews at $5.69/mo, a small step. NVMe 8 starts at $12.99/mo and renews at $28.99/mo, more than double. The NVMe 4, 8 and 16 plans currently include a $50, $60 or $75 Amazon e-gift card, labelled limited time.
How to avoid paying more than you need to
Set a calendar reminder 30 days before your term ends. That is your window to downgrade, switch plans or move hosts. Untick add-ons at checkout, because Starter already includes backups and malware scanning. And if you cancel inside 30 days, remember Bluehost deducts the free domain's standard fee from your refund.
Is there a Bluehost promo code?
Not one we could verify. Coupon aggregators list dozens of 5 to 25% off codes, mostly community-submitted with the code hidden. Bluehost applies its discounts through the link, and the current Buy More, Save More promo (up to an extra 25% on the 12-month tab) needs no code. If we test a code that works, it will appear on our Bluehost page with the date we tested it.

CoupStore Offer Desk, Team voor aanbiedingscontrole
The Offer Desk reads every offer on the store's own site before it goes live here, records the page it came from and the date, and takes it down when it ends. Codes are listed only when the store prints them itself. Prices for hosting, software and subscriptions carry the renewal price next to the intro price.
